Life is recollection

I'm a 23 year old libra, guitarist, singer/songwriter, performance poet, politician, activist, romantic, artist, cook, flirt, and troubador.
I'm studying Architectural Engineering at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where I served as student-body President and Vice-President of Associated Students, Inc.. I stumbled into politics on a whim, wanting to act as a watchdog for student resources. What I discovered was a playing field to build and refine professional and political skills.
If I could be remembered for one thing when I die, I hope that it will be that I inspired thousands of normal people to get involved in their communities and in politics because our country and our world are in dire need of real people proposing real solutions to real problems. Our current government system is too far removed from real life and needs to be re-centered.
I like to live for the moment, and only plan when necessary… planning sets the foundation for disappointment.
I like to take risks and get out of my comfort zone, even though it's tough to do sometimes. Everytime I've been able to pull it off, something amazing clicked in my life, or another door opened to another great opportunity.
I see myself as a realistic progressive, meaning that I want things to progress and become better, but do not hold fast to any particular perspective on how progress should be achieved. It's much more effective to be willing to adapt to any situation and make the best of what's at hand, otherwise life is a series of frustrating compromise.
My main passion is to save the world, and to do so by working for enlightened policies at every level that preserve and enhance our environment, strengthen and empower our communities and citizens, invest in renewable energy and sustainable systems, and that above all, value humanity by investing in Education, Universal Health Care, Rehabilitation over Incarceration, and most importantly, acknowledging the age old parable: it takes a village to raise a child… too many single parents are being forced to make choices between their children and their livlihood.
